EC Organic Regulation
In January 2009, the former EC-Regulation No. 2091/92 was replaced by new EC organic agriculture legislation directives: Now, EC-Regulation No. 834/2007 - in connection with other proceeding regulations like EC-Regulation No. 889/2008 - lays down the basic rules for the production of organic products in the EU. Farmers, processors, importers and traders who want to produce, process, store and market products with reference to organic agriculture, are bound to be subjected to a Corresponding control procedure. The same applies to importers who like to import organic food from third countries to the EU, EC-Regulation No. 1235/2008.
Furthermore, a new EC Organic Label was created. EC-Regulation No. 271/2010 lays down the design guidelines as well as the implementation regulations for using the new EU Organic Label. Further information regarding the new label including the possibility to download it you will find here:
